" According to the Tamil calendar, the Margazhi season starts from the 16th of December every year and continues for 30 long days. During this time of the year in south India ,so many established Carnatic musicians perform in various places,especially in temples.
Carnatic is one of the main sub-genres of Indian classical .This traditional system of music is closely associated with southern India.
 
For the past 5 years I have been making portraits of established Carnatic musicians in the fraternity. My objective was to mainly support the group of traditionalist who spread love through music. So far I have sketched many of the best upcoming artists and will continue to sketch many more in the future. I have been doing it for half a decade and I still have lots of amazing people to sketch. I truly admired what those artists do for a living. Couple of years ago , I decided to gift the celebrities their portraits because I strongly felt that giving someone my time was the best way I could show them my support. That was when I hosted an event at a popular Chennai (South Indian City) based garment store called Sarangi that sells traditional Indian outfits. The store was already actively sponsoring a lot of cultural and music events held in reputed auditoriums in the city.

The small collection of black and white sketches have been made using a technique called cross-hatching wherein I superimpose straight lines one on top of the other to achieve a certain kind of unique visual texture.In most of these sketches you would notice that the performers have their eyes closed and chin facing up. The goal was to precisely capture the mood of the artists and show that they are in a state of trace while they are singing
 
The art show sponsored by Sarangi Store went really well. We had hundreds of visitors in just a short span of 10 days.
